At Dental X-Pressions, our Custom Shade Taking service ensures your restorations match natural dentition with precision, nuance, and aesthetic harmony. For anterior restorations and smile zone cases where subtle details matter most, this service offers a personalised, technician-led approach to achieving the perfect shade — every time.
We understand that photography, shade tabs, and digital scanners can only go so far. That’s why we invite patients to attend in-person consultations with our experienced ceramists, who assess shade, translucency, value, and surface texture under controlled lighting conditions. These appointments allow us to document critical details such as:
Hue and chroma blending
Internal characterisation and surface anatomy
Peri-oral soft tissue and facial context
Texture, gloss, and natural light behaviour
In addition to visual matching, we use digital photography, polarised filters, and custom shade mapping tools to document and communicate shade nuances back to the lab environment. This comprehensive documentation supports natural-looking results and reduces the need for remakes or chair-side adjustments.
For anterior veneers, implant crowns, or complex smile design cases, we recommend combining our Custom Shade Taking service with DXP Smile Design to ensure your final restoration aligns perfectly with both the clinical plan and the patient’s expectations. Together, these tools elevate case predictability, treatment acceptance, and overall satisfaction.
For those especially challenging aesthetic cases — such as high-value cosmetic smiles, single central incisors, or restorations adjacent to discoloured teeth — we also offer a Custom Shape and Stain Service. Here, patients can participate in real-time shade evaluation, surface texturing, and characterisation directly with our ceramists for optimal aesthetic blending and visual accuracy. This service is ideal for clinicians who require exacting results in demanding clinical scenarios.
Whether you’re local to our facility or require remote support, Dental X-Pressions is your trusted partner in aesthetic excellence — blending collaboration, artistry, and clinical insight into every smile.
